Ethan’s Fund through Aurora Health Care supports the Culver Alumni House, a transitional, sober living facility for individuals recovering from addiction. It’s part of Aurora Health Care’s year-long addiction recovery program. Access to the Culver Alumni House Sober Living Program can literally mean the difference between life and death.

The programs offered at Culver Alumni House give people in recovery hope for a new life, helping them gradually reacclimate to the community. It’s an opportunity to practice sober living, which statistically increases the odds of long-term sobriety and lasting recovery.

Lack of a stable, alcohol- and drug-free living environment can be a serious obstacle to sustained abstinence. Destructive living environments can derail recovery for even highly motivated individuals. Sober living houses (SLHs) are alcohol- and drug-free living environments for individuals attempting to abstain from alcohol and drugs. They are not licensed or funded by state or local governments and the residents themselves pay for costs. This cost is often not something an individual early in recovery can pay for; they often do not have jobs or social support. Ethan’s Fund provides the resources to ensure that sober living is available. This can literally mean the difference between life or death.
